The Pecan House

Preserving The Traditions, Culinary Crafts, & Cultural Hubs Of Texas.

The Country Store was more than a place to buy the necessities to live. It was a cultural hub, where communities could learn the news (or gossip), gather socially, and share parts of their lives. Going to the country store was as much a social activity as it was a shopping trip. The Pecan House embraces these traditions wholeheartedly.

Because people are cooking from home more often, The Pecan House Country Store works to find the best-of-the-best products from around Texas that will help preserve our culinary heritage and allow us to pass it on to the next generation.

From Texas BBQ sauce to candied pecans, we aim to serve up a taste of Texas.

Our History

Skeets and Frankie Turbeville were farmers who sold sweet potatoes in the fall and watermelons in the summer. In 1978 they decided to start selling another cash crop: pecans. They began buying pecans from local residents and selling them to the public. After a few years, they set up a pecan sheller in their sweet potato barn.

In 2017, Mike and Karen Griffith bought the store from the Turbeville family. They maintained it as a seasonal business, selling new crop pecans while expanding the store’s selection to include the best products they could find.

In addition to classic pecan-based goods, like pecan brittle, glazed pecans, and pecan butter, they began to expand to include homemade and locally sourced goods, like local honey and exclusive cheesecake, in addition to other treats from all over the state.
